TITLE : KEEPING SECRET

TEXT:“But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter”. (1 Samuel 20:39)

In the movie industry, secret is what is called suspense in films of which some are true life stories. Oftentimes in the world, the so-called secret when exposed, usually leads to sadness and sorrow for the keeper. Keeping good secret is honourable, because when such secret is exposed, it is always a joyful report. An example of keeping secret is that of Jonathan: who kept the secret of his dealing with David in order to preserve David’s life when the latter was being persecuted by King Saul, Jonathan`s father. Jonathan lived out what the Scripture suggests in Proverbs 17:17: "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." As a friend, he was very kind to David. As a youth, let the Bible be your guide. You too should so love your friends by letting them know about the love of Jesus, which is the secret of life.
  • Challenge: See a need, lend a hand and keep it secret.
  • Prayer:Oh God, help me to be a friend in need and indeed.
  • Further Reading:1 Samuel 20: 1- 42
  • Quotation:Love your friends
