TITLE : GRACIOUS GOD

TEXT: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)

When you hear the expression, “work of God”, what comes to your mind? Preaching, singing in the choir, giving to the cause of the gospel, visiting the sick and helping the poor youths? You are right. These are works of God, but it is more than that. In 1737 Jonathan Edwards wrote an essay titled, “A Faithful Narrative of the Surprising Work of God in the Conversion of Many Hundred Souls in Northampton”. In this essay, he describes the circumstances surrounding the conversion of members of his congregation as the work of God’s grace. Do you know that salvation is the work of God? All the Christian experiences—Salvation, Holiness, Holy Ghost impartation — are works of God. God is at work in your heart if you allow Him to change you, and transform you into the image of Christ. As you desire to grow in grace, God will help you to remain steadfast till the end. Yield your will to Him. Let God have his way in you.
  • Challenge: Has God done the work of grace in your life?
  • Prayer:Have thine own way, Lord.
  • Further Reading:Philippians 1:3-6
  • Quotation:Let God have his way
